CLUB STATEMENT: KEV MATHER STEPS UP AS CHAIRMAN

After 4 years as Chairman Dave Jones has stepped down.

In a statement Jones announced: “It is with a certain sadness that from today I would like to announce that I will be standing down as Chair of Stanway Rovers FC”

“This is due to personal reasons but going forward after being involved for 37 years and enjoyed and been proud of every minute I will be staying on as honorary officer and trustee of this wonderful club”

“After all the time involved I would like to thank all of my friends and colleagues at the club for all of the hard work and effort to take us to where we are now and I know the club is in good hands for the future. I wish the club and the fantastic football set up throughout all the very best for the season and going forward. Up The Rovers”

Kev Mather steps up from Vice Chairman to succeed David Jones as Chairman of the club. Working alongside Kev as Vice-Chairman will be newly appointed Steve Blake who has been on the committee for a number of years.

Mather said: "I'm very proud to be chairman”

"I've been heavily involved with the club for many years. I played for Stanway Rovers when I was a youngster and lived in Stanway most of my life. I'm relishing this challenge to progress the club, I'm very positive about the future. It's a well-run club and all of the committee are local people”

“I think we've got the right management team in now, We couldn't ask for a more experienced team”

"We are looking for promotion in the next couple of seasons - But that's going to cost money, so we may have to see how we get on this year, get through this difficult financial spell and then hopefully push on within the next couple of years”

"The more the team does well, the more the crowds will come and the local community will support us”
