CHAIRMAN'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN:

Monday 23rd March 2020… LOCKDOWN!

A seminal point in history from when things would never be the same. At a stroke, although we did not know it at the time, the best part of an entire year’s turnover was to be “written off” because of a worldwide virus – COVID-19. It was to prove an unexpected body blow to the club, both socially and recreationally.

Stanway Rovers Football Club is a long-established local institution, now entering its eighth decade. It remains a non-profit-making organisation, entirely community-based, and a valuable community asset. If any reassurance was needed to the bona fide members of the club and all its dependents, then COVID-19 has certainly tested our resolve to the full.

I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to all our sponsors, benefactors, volunteers and humble supporters for their kind efforts in helping to keep Rovers afloat during this difficult time.

Hopefully, in the new year, we may get back to some form of normality. When we do, I look forward to welcoming you all back to the Hawthorns and catching up with all the old, familiar faces. In the meantime, please respect the COVID-19 guidelines and keep safe.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dave Jones (Chairman)

On behalf of: Andy Partner (SRFC Youth Chairman) Leo King (SRFC Ladies Chairman) Ross Turver (SRFC Girls Chairman) and everyone else at Stanway Rovers Football Club.
