Fresh off their Essex Senior League title and promotion, Stanway Rovers, under manager Jamie Shaw, demonstrated resilience and attacking intent against a spirited Enfield side.

The match began with Stanway asserting early pressure. In the opening minutes, a dynamic run from Trialist A earned a penalty shout, waved away by the referee, setting the tone for an aggressive start. Stanway’s persistence paid off in the 32nd minute when Joe Debell was fouled in the penalty area, leading to a penalty. Trialist B confidently stepped up and slotted the ball past Enfield’s keeper, giving Stanway a 1-0 lead. Moments later, goalkeeper Robinson proved his worth with a crucial save, denying a header from Enfield’s number 20 to preserve the advantage. Stanway’s defense, led by the experienced Joe Turpin, held firm, thwarting Enfield’s attempts to equalize before halftime.
