2025 - our most successful year as a football club

Updated: Dec 30, 2025

With 2025 coming to a close, we wanted to share some stats about what has been our most successful year as a football club to date.

Across two seasons our first team played 50 matches in all competitions, with a record of 31 wins, 9 draws and 10 losses, picking up 78 points from a possible 117 in league games - a strong total when you consider the level of opposition we have come up against.

In those 50 games, Stanway have scored 107 goals and conceded just 47, leaving our yearly goal difference at +60. With an average of over 2 goals a game and less than one conceded , the players and management staff continue to give themselves the best opportunity to win week after week, and full credit must go to everyone involved for the hard work shown on the training ground and pitch come matchday.

Rovers have also picked up 18 clean sheets in that time, equalling to just over 1 in every 3 games or 36%.

In April, Stanway clinched the Essex Senior League title - gaining promotion to Step 4 of non league for the first time in the clubs long history. A goal in which manager Jamie Shaw had set out to achieve, since he was first appointed in October 2023.

As the start of the 2025-26 season had come around, Stanway were seeing plenty of cup success, winning three tough games in the FA Cup to reach the Second Round Qualifying for the first time. Unfortunately we fell to a narrow 2-0 defeat to Maldon & Tiptree, but this was more records broken and definitely something to be proud of on reflection.  Alongside the FA Cup, a brilliant run in the FA Trophy saw Rovers reach the first round proper in our debut season! Another campaign where we had to win three games to get there, but this team knows no limits as they made history once again.

The back end of 2025 saw us begin our very first Isthmian Division One North league season, and with 23 games played so far - 11 wins, 7 draws, 5 losses - we sit in a very healthy 5th position. A fantastic second half of the season awaits…

Of course, none of this could be done without the hard work, generosity and hard work of staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters alike, and for that we are truly grateful to all of you.

Here is to more success in 2026!
