Hope for Grace - 18/05/2025 O ur annual "Hope For Grace" charity football game took place on Sunday 18th May 2025, here at Stanway Rovers Football Club. And what an afternoon it was. We had: Big Dog Ballin  on the decks - and what a fantastic party atmosphere we had The Essex Flames Cheerleading and Dancing squad, who shared their lovely skills and choreography - including high high jumps Face painting from Tippy-Toes Faces, Face Painter & Body Glitter Artist - Essex   A lovely selection of cakes and other treats to eat, supplied by Ellwoods Cakes     Matty Max Maintenance Man and his bouncy castle Fantastic BBQ food, brough to us, and cooked for us, by Willshers Whole Hog ( A. Willsher & Son ) Ice creams from Whippy Bros The beautiful Emma Louise Nicholls, who sang us through a lovely Sunday evening in the sunshine! And, of course - the football match! Karl Duguid's  Colchester Utd Legends formed up once again and took on The Hope for Grace FC team, with the Colchester United Legends coming out as eventual 3 : 2 victors. And the best news of all - a massive £8,388.35 was raised!! Thank you to everyone that: organised the day spread the news about the day worked tirelessly before the day worked tirelessly on the day came along and supported the day made smiles on the day You ALL contributed to the raising of this fantastic sum of money. Jamie Shaw Stanway Rovers are delighted to announce that manager Jamie Shaw has agreed to remain with the club with his contract being extended for a further year. Vice Chairman Jerry Carter said "Jamie has totally transformed the club's fortunes in his first season here when he took us from ‘bottom of the league’ to just one place off the playoffs, and won both league cups. "This last season he won us the championship outright with automatic promotion to Step Four of the NLS (Isthmian League North ). This is the highest ever level that Rovers have competed in their long history. "It is only natural he should be rewarded with the opportunity to keep the squad together for the challenge ahead." Our First Team celebrated the end of the highly successful 2024/2025 season with our annual "Presentation" evening. The evening started with the "fun" awards, including the "worst dressed player", "biggest gaffe of the year" and "worst haircut" - before moving on the five serious awards of the year. They were: Manager's "Young Player of the Year" Winner: Jamie Bennett Player's "Player of the Year" This season there was a three way tie, the winners were: Tom Maycock, Joe Debell and George Okoye Supporter's "Player of the Year" Winner: George Okoye, prize presented by the supporter of the year. Hope For Grace - 18/05/2025 The time has once again come to announce our annual charity football game:   Karl Duguid Colchester Utd Legends vs The Hope for Grace FC team The game is on Sunday 18th May 2025, here at Stanway Rovers Football Club with a 1:00pm kick off. Gates open at 12:00 noon. We would like to give a massive shout out to this years officials Ref Phil Molloy with his sons Jake and Ethan Molloy. This is their 5th year of giving up their time to come along and ref this charity game and we are all very thankful to them.
